Squoosh: Google's excellent local image compressor — but handles one image at a time with no batch mode and no ICO, TIFF, or GIF output.
Squoosh is arguably the best single-image compression tool available. Built by Google Chrome Labs, it runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly, supports AVIF/WebP/MozJPEG encoding, and shows a live side-by-side quality comparison.
The gap: Squoosh is a single-file, single-tab tool. There is no batch mode — you must open a new tab for each image. Output formats are limited to web-optimized codecs (MozJPEG, WebP, AVIF, OxiPNG) — no ICO generation, no TIFF output, and no HEIC input support.
